Carson Pass · South of the Lake

Kirkwood Mountain Resort

Remote, rugged and buried in some of the deepest snow in the Sierra — a powder-hound's mountain.

Deep & Wild

Tahoe's Snowiest, Steepest Secret

Tucked away on Carson Pass about 45 minutes south of the lake, Kirkwood is the wild child of Tahoe skiing. Its bowl-shaped layout and high elevation catch and hold storms, giving it a reputation for the deepest, lightest snow in the region.

There's no glitzy village here — Kirkwood is about the terrain. Steep chutes, cliff bands, cornices and the legendary "Wall" reward strong skiers, while a separate base area keeps beginners and families happy. The remoteness is the whole point.
