Straddling the Mt. Rose Highway between Reno and Incline Village, Mount Rose has the highest base elevation of any Tahoe resort at 8,260 feet — which means colder temperatures and drier, more reliable snow than mountains lower down.
It's a no-frills locals' mountain: a wide spread of cruising terrain plus The Chutes, a steep expert zone that's some of the best lift-served advanced skiing at the lake. And at roughly 25 minutes from Reno-Tahoe Airport, it's the easiest big mountain to reach by air.
